1.WHAT IS A COOKIE
Cookies are small text files that a website or a mobile app places on the computer, tablet or other device. Usually a cookie contains the name of the website from which the cookie comes from, the life span of the cookie (ie how long will remain on the user's device), and a value, which is usually a unique number generated randomly, but does not contain any personal information such as a name or an e-mail address. They facilitate navigating from page to page on the website, provide secure connections and, when the user returns on the website, they remember the preferences expressed during the previous visit.
With the information received through this technology, Sacto S.r.l. wants  to enhance the website’s experience for its users.

2. TYPES OF COOKIES
Cookies, in general, can be classified either according to their origin or depending on their persistence. In particular, regarding the first classification – the one origin-based - it is possible to divide cookies into two categories, namely "first-party cookies" and "third-party cookies". Regarding the second profile – the on of the persistence - it is possible to divide the cookies into "persistent cookies" and "session cookies". Specifically, as it follows.
  1. First-party cookies: normally they are managed by the site owner / publisher and, therefore, are sent to the user's browser directly from the site itself.
  2. Third-party cookies: they are the ones which are managed by a third party, extraneous to the website visited by the user. Usually, this type of cookies are used by those websites in which there are personalized advertisements or banners that redirect to other web pages. It should be noted that the user’s tracking does not involve the identification of the user itelf, except in the cases where the user is already registered with the service or is already logged in, as the user had already given his consent to the third party upon the enrollment for the related service.
  3. Persistent cookies: they are the ones that do not cease directly when closing the browser, since they have a specific expiry date. In fact, persistent cookies expire only after a determined  period of time or at a specific date established by the cookie creator. This type of cookies are used, for example, to record information about a user's web browsing habits for a prolonged period of time or even to mantain the access to the same site using a personal account (the credentials are saved).
  4. Session cookies (navigation): they do not have an expiration date and, therefore, since they are not  persistent, they are deleted when the browser is closed.

Again, cookies can be divided into additional categories depending on their use. Below are the most common cookie categories.
  1. Analytical/statistical cookies: they are normally used to collect informations in an aggregate and anonymous way on the number of users who visit the website and, also, on their browsing methods (for example, on the number of "clicks" made on a specific page).
  2. Social network cookies: although they are not necessary for the navigation, they are used in order to facilitate the interaction between a personal social account and the website visited by the user (for example, throughout the sharing function). These cookies allow social networks (specifically Facebook, Google +) to identify their users, and to collect their data even while browsing on other websites.
  3. Cookies for storing preferences (functional): they favor the correct use of the website by the user, storing - for example - the language chosen. These cookies, although not essential, improve both the quality and the browsing experience.
  4. Advertising cookies (profiling, marketing): these are used to provide advertising space. In particular, using these cookies, announcements are sent according to the user's behavior and network interests. They can also be used to test advertising campaigns, since they can memorize if the ads have been selected and when. It should be noted that, in general, these data are collected anonymously.
  5. Technical cookies: these are the ones used to facilitate the access and the use of the website by the user, as well as to provide the user with a bespoke service, requested by him. In particular, these are indispensable in delicate operations, such as home banking or credit card payment and other systems.
